North College Hill City School District

Additional Information

I am extremely optimistic about the future of NCH as we continue to focus on building positive student relationships and raising student achievement. Our goal is to create an environment where students feel welcomed, safe, and believe that education is important. We have a highly motivated staff that is dedicated to our students, parents, and the community. This year we will continue to focus on increasing classroom engagement by using research-based strategies and providing ongoing professional development for our staff. Also, we will be reviewing our current curriculum across all grade levels to ensure that it supports the needs of our students. We are preparing our North College Hill students to graduate from high school, college and/or to be career ready.

*Student Achievement
The district will be working directly with our teachers to provide meaningful staff development opportunities to ensure our students have the necessary skills to meet and exceed their academic potential. The elementary will be focusing on ramping up our early literacy program through direct and small group instruction. Moreover, Defined STEM will be introduced at the Middle School and it will provide teachers with standards-aligned project-based lessons. These engaging real-world authentic lessons will empower students to develop essential 21st century skills.

*Safe and effective school environment
As a district, we will focus on building a positive school environment by consistently acknowledging expected behaviors and correcting behavior errors through active supervision, proactive scheduling, incentives, and positive reinforcement. We will be using the PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports) framework throughout the district to ensure consistent implementation of culturally responsive practices. PBIS is a broad range of systemic and individualized strategies for achieving important social and learning outcomes. Schools will identify 3 to 5 school-wide overarching behavioral expectations and provide explicit instruction, practice, and feedback to our students.

We are North College Hill City Schools and are proud of where we've been and where we are going.
